AN EXPERIENCE WHEN I WERE IN DANGER

It was a sunny afternoon. I was walking home alone, taking my usual route across the paddy field. From the main road, it is going to be a twenty-minute walk before reaching home .
The day was extraordinary hot. The intense heat from the scorching sun was almost unbearable. I had just got down from the bus and began walking down the dusty lane. My throat felt extremely dry and I was craving for a good cold drink. Soda carbonate would be a good choice of drink to quench my thirst. I came across a shop six minutes later and was glad to find myself a bottle of soda carbonate. Soon, I was out of the shop to head for home, still helping myself to the soda carbonate.
It was harvesting season. The paddy field was yellow as if covered with a golden carpet. It was a moment of joy and festival for farmers including my family. Soon, the would reap what they had toiled all this while. I could imagine my parents’ faces beaming with joy as they counted the money from the sale of paddy. By sheer luck, my Dad would get me a secondhand motorcycle. I trudged on, feeling the excitement in the air.
After seven minutes of walking, I came across a herd of cows grazing placidly. Coincidently, I was gulping sown my last drink of soda carbonate. So, out of excitement, I simply hurled the empty bottle high into the air after finishing the last drop of it. My excitement did not last long. Suddenly a gush of wind swept through the paddy field, blowing the bottle slightly towards the grazing cows. Woosh!! The bottle landed on a bull, hitting it hard on the head. The bull jumped with a start. It had really got the hulk out of it. Suddenly I felt the earth beneath my feet tremble. Oh, no! l turned to look at the bull. The black angry beast was coming in my direction. Before I realised, I was already off running at a speed that could possibly break the national record. The nearest tree was 60 metres away but it seemed like eternity. It would only be my only hope for safety. The bull gaining on me. I could imagine the sharp protruding horns of the beast getting closer and closer. A slight mistake would result in getting myself gored by the beast.
As I reached the tree, I was panting heavily. The bull was just five metres behind me. Catching a breath, I leapt up and reached for a branch and heaved  myself up to safety. The beast halted just under the tree, its head hung low and its heaving breath blowing away dust. It came closer and brushed it head against the tree, probably in frustration. It remained there for a while. Meanwhile, I took a chance to get hold of myself. My heart was still thumping heavily. Seconds ago, death was only a few steps away from me.
Late that evening, the owner of the bull arrived and was quite astounded to see the bull’s head bleeding. I then explained the situation to him. He lead the bull away, relieved that the cut on his bull’s head was just minor and was not even bothered to help me get down the tree. I managed to get down the tree by myself. Just then, my Dad arrived and was relieved to see me safe and sound. It was a close shave, I thanked God I am still alive.
